Usability testing to improve the user experience. Understand how users perceive your product.
To analyse a website or app holistically, you need quantitative web analytics data as well as qualitative UX research. Usability tests provide you with valuable insights from the customer's perspective - regardless of whether you are testing prototypes or optimising existing products. This not only allows you to understand what your users do, but also why. This in turn allows you to derive data-based, target-orientated improvements.
Usability testing makes it possible to identify obstacles and difficulties encountered by users of your digital offerings. If these problems are addressed in a targeted manner, the user experience can be significantly improved. Correctly conducted usability testing explains the discrepancy between the planned user behaviour and the actual interaction with your product or service.
Our usability testing provides a starting point for aligning your product with user behaviour (user-centric design). If potential difficulties along the customer journey are recognised and resolved, the user experience of your customers will improve and they will thank you by using your product or service.
For the holistic analysis and evaluation of a website or app, we combine quantitative analytics data with qualitative UX research. The analytics data can be used to identify potential problem areas - such as the cancellation of the order process at checkout. However, the reasons for user behaviour usually remain unclear. With usability testing, we can specifically address such problem areas and understand what motivates users to behave in certain ways. The difficulties that users have with the application and the motivation for different actions become apparent (qualitative approach).
Our usability tests are carried out in our test room or at your premises under the supervision of one of our UX researchers. The test subjects and the test scenarios are central to the success of the usability testing: The test subjects should be as representative as possible of the website or app's target group. The test scenarios should include tasks that are as realistic and close to everyday life as possible. The criteria are defined on the basis of the business and website objectives, the web analysis and the typical user flows.
The findings are validated as far as possible using quantitative analytics data in order to obtain as comprehensive an evaluation of your product as possible and to be able to precisely identify any potential for improvement.
