Just as other companies rely on Office 365, we at zweipunkt use Google Workplace (formerly Google G-Suite). Of course, as a long-standing Google Analytics Certified Partner and now Google Marketing Platform Partner, it stands to reason that we also work with Google products internally. However, if we want to share content such as a document (gDoc) with our customers and ensure that only this person has access to the document, the customer must log in with their email address.

But: With Google products, personal access can only be granted to Gmail addresses or to email addresses that are linked to Google.

Recommendation: Only grant access to personal business email addresses

We recommend that our customers only grant access to Google Analytics, Google Data Studio, Google Sheets etc. via personal business email addresses. Why?

When working with an advertising agency, you have given the agency access to your Google Analytics for the Gmail address "sunshine85123@gmail.notexisting@nodomain.comcom". What is the problem? With such generic and impersonal email addresses, you will soon lose track of who has access to your data. It may be a private address and the person no longer works for this agency (but still has access to your data). Or a large number of people have access that you don't know about. And do you still know who or which agency is behind sunshine85123@gmail.notexisting@nodomain.comcom after 6 months?

If access is only granted to personal business email addresses (e.g. vorname.notexisting@nodomain.comname@agenturxy.notexisting@nodomain.comch), these problems do not arise and you know exactly who has access to your data.

Here are the instructions for the "Google link":

First of all, it's very simple! Follow the instructions below to set up a Google shortcut for your business email address:

1. click "Create account" at the following URL https://accounts.google.com/signin and then select "For work or my company"

2. Then select "Request Gmail address"

3.enter your name, date of birth and gender

4. Select "Use existing e-mail address"

5. Now enter your business email address

6. Google will now send you a code to the email address you entered. You must enter this code in the confirmation field

7. As usual, this is followed by various provisions which must be read and accepted.

8. That's it. Now you can easily log in to all Google services such as Google Analytics, Google Doc, Google Slide etc.
